#1 Lakme 9 to 5 Eyeliner
Lakme is the go-to brand for many Indian women. It’s safe for the skin, doesn’t react, and delivers well beyond the price tag. Lakme 9 to 5 in their range is one of the best liquid eyeliners in India. Scroll to see the full review.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
For the price of Rs.210/-, you get 3.5 ml of product. If you’re a daily eyeliner user, one bottle will last you for 3 to 4 months. Make sure you close the bottle directly though, otherwise the product will dry out. The sleek packaging makes it easy to carry the liner on trips and vacations.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
This isn’t waterproof, but I think that’s the only drawback of this eyeliner. This has been my go-to for years now! The quality is amazing for the price. It finishes off matte black, which I always prefer over shiny finishes. And stays on for HOURS! Unless you mistakenly rub it or put any water or sweat, this won’t come off. Honestly, this is why I also prefer this liner over others, because this drawback kind of makes the product much easier to remove. At the end of the day, all I need to do is wash my eyes with plain water and it’s all gone. Much better than having to swipe the product off with a cotton pad and damaging the soft area around the eyes.
Another drawback of this product is it’s a little difficult to apply. Kajal pencils and felt tip liners give the convenience to form a definitive and smooth line, but the brush ones require a little practice. That’s true for any brush and dip-in-the-pot eyeliner though! It takes around a minute to dry and the result is a gorgeous, matte black shade.
If you’re looking for budget eyeliners in India – Lakme 9 to 5 is the BEST one on the list. (without a doubt!)

#2 FACES Canada Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal
For women looking for an on-the-go, easy application option, this eyeliner pencil is your answer. FACES Canada Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal can be used on both your upper and lower lash line. And unlike other gel eyeliners, it comes in a stick form, nonetheless delivers the same results.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
There is 1.2 grams of kajal for a price of Rs.410/-. It’s definitely an affordable price considering it’s one of the gel-based eyeliners in India. The product comes along with a sharpener, so you don’t have to worry about purchasing it separately. Further, besides the applicator side, it also has a smudger for smokey eye shadow. A differentiating attribute you won’t find in any other eyeliners in India.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
The finish is jet black and looks gorgeously matte after application. There’s no drying time, so best for girls who have to rush through their mornings but want to use eyeliner daily. Moreover, it has candelilla wax, which is known to bind the ingredients together and give the product a soft, smooth texture. The common agent also soothes the skin and nourishes it.
You’ll be amazed to see how pigmented the kajal eyeliner is! One swipe and the pitch-black color graces your lashline well. An effortless application – isn’t that all we need from our eyeliner? And speaking of its long-lasting, smudge-proof qualities, we will let the reviews inform you of those! “Smudge-proof, water-proof, and stays on for hours. Take this from someone who has tried many eyeliner brands,” writes one Amazon reviewer. “Applied this from 11 AM to 9 PM and didn’t budge at all! Best one in the market in this price range” writes another.

#3 Sugar Cosmetics Eye Warned You So
Sugar Cosmetics always makes me smile with their innovative and cranky names. There’s Eye Warned You So, Eye Told You So, Kohl Of Honour, and Arrested For Overstay (LOL!). Out of all these amazing ones’ eye kohl range, our & consumers’ favorite is Eye Warned You So! Offering an intensely pigmented, sweat-proof formula, this eyeliner definitely deserves a try.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The eyeliner comes in a sleek design, with the lower part containing the product, and the upper part with the brush for application. There’s 1.7 grams of product for Rs.699/-. When applied daily, it can last you for 3 to 4 months.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
This eyeliner in India comes with a thick brush and liquid product. I have used the product personally and agree with everyone’s reviews. The liner is super black with a matte finish and goes on with one stroke. It doesn’t flake or come off easily. And the best part is it doesn’t budge with humidity and sweat. The stay-on power is amazing! Being dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested, the product will not irritate or cause redness in your eyes.
SUGAR Cosmetics Eye Warned You So comes in 4 stunning shades, there’s a brown eyeliner, alongside electric blue and mint green. Infusing a few colors into your eye look is always a great idea for a night out, right?
If the dip-in-the-pot eyeliner is difficult for you to apply, try their *Arrested For Overstay* range. It’s a lit bit on the pricier, but worth every penny though.

#4 Loreal Paris Super Liner Gel
One of the most affordable and effective gel eyeliners in India is Loreal Paris Super Liner Gel. I’ve used it once for a friend’s wedding, and it stayed on so well. The color was a gorgeous black shade and didn’t smudge at all – that’s coming from someone who has got panda eyes with most liners. To read a more in-depth review, keep scrolling.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The L’oreal Paris Super Liner comes with a wide high-precision brush and a pot with the product. There’s 2.8 grams of product for a price of Rs.640/-. The glass jar that contains the product looks super classy and is easily portable.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
Gel liners offer a thicker, smoother consistency for a solid color instantly without having to layer them up. These also last longer than traditional kajal and liquid eyeliners. Plus, they’re smudge-proof and water-proof.
Another amazing benefit is the gel-based eyeliners move well with the delicate skin of the eye, leaving less room for tugging and pulling. The brush applicator is sturdy and is designed to only pick up a certain quantity of product, leaving less room for wastage.
The only drawback I can see is it’s not certainly for beginners. Applying a liner with a brush is tough and not everyone’s cup of tea. It requires a lot of practice to do it with one swipe and keeping the stroke neat. However, if you’re a pro, don’t hesitate once to purchase this amazing gel eyeliner.

#5 Loreal Paris Flash Cat Eyeliner
Ensuring that your cat eyes are as seamless and gorgeous as they can be, L’oreal Paris came out with a Flash Cat eyeliner that has a precision tip and a stencil to make even the sleekest of the cat eyes possible. It has been a favorite among Youtube makeup vloggers and has been touted by them as the best affordable eyeliner in India for beginners and pros alike.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The eyeliner comes in a sleek pen shape with a felt-tip brush and a 90 degrees stencil for a smooth, sleek application. Because of the sharp applicator, there are little to no chances of going overboard with lining your eyes. It’s priced at Rs.599/- and has 0.6 ml of product. When used daily, this can last you for around 3 months.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
The best benefit is definitely the ultra-flexible brush liner that gives a sharp, black finish with just one stroke. The smooth glide and the unique stencil attached to the cap make the application faster and better than other eyeliners in India mentioned on this list. It’s also a waterproof formula, so won’t budge when you sweat. Moreover, the staying power is great. You might only need to re-apply after 7 to 8 hours. If you have oily lids, use a no-oil primer and then, apply the product.
Also, this dries shiny/ glossy, instead of matte. That’s the only reason why I have never tried this eyeliner. I am all about matte black finishes.
A drawback, as reported by many customers, is a few bristles get bent and can hurdle a seamless application. All you need to do to counteract this is to cut that bristle out and use it just like it’s meant to be.

#6 Colorbar Infinite 24 Hours Eyeliner
Colorbar is yet another favorite, drugstore brand among women, which delivers the best in the price range. Ours (and the users) favorite eyeliner among many varieties is their Infinite 24 hours eyeliner. Apart from black, there’s brown eyeliner, and also brown, and (my favorite) bottle green. Scroll to see the full review.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
Colorbar Infinite 24 hours eyeliner comes in cute bottle packaging with a brush and liquid product in the lower box. The packaging is very similar to Lakme 9 to 5 and apparently, it delivers the same results. I am yet to try this one, but since the Lakme one is my favorite, I’d love to give it a go soon! For a price of Rs.560/-, you get 2.5 ml of product.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
The eyeliner comes with a brush tip that’s thin with bristles tightened well together to ensure as thin or as thick a look you want. The formula is rich and jet black and has a smooth texture for easier application. And the reviews vouch for being water-proof and sweat-proof. “This is the best eyeliner, it stays all day, even when I’m working out and sweat a lot. At the end of the day, I just use a bit of coconut oil to remove the product. Value for money,” says one reviewer.
“The applicator is easy to use and applies perfect amount on the eyelid. The product stays on for a good 12 hours. Best part is it doesn’t come off even when I end up rubbing my eyes – which is a BIG problem for someone who has this habit (like me!).” writes another one.
As for the drawbacks, we couldn’t really find any. The majority of reviewers have nothing but good stuff to say about this waterproof eyeliner in India. Just keep in mind that you close the lid tightly after usage or the formula can dry out a bit.

#7 FACES Canada Ultime Pro A Matte Made in Heaven Ink Liner
This one’s my most recent purchase and definitely didn’t disappoint. The product has everything a girl can possibly ask for in a liner. It’s dark, stays put for hours, doesn’t smudge, and removes easily at the end of the day. Although, it doesn’t dry super-matte, but somewhere between glossy and matter. For a full review, keep reading.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The eyeliner comes in a typical felt-tip liner packaging. The tap pops when you push it on the bottom product, ensuring you never leave the risk of drying it. There’s 1.2 ml of liner for a price of Rs.419/-.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
First, the application is so easy. Being a personal user of this product, I can assure you that you can flawlessly draw as thin or as thick of the liner you want. Plus, drawing a cat-eye is also easy. I use the end of tube creams to draw a precise shape and then, fill it in. The product comes easily in one swipe and you just have to run over once again for a proper finish. Read what one of their customers said:
“GET IT. Don’t even think twice. I have used so many brands but love this one, especially for those who struggle to draw a neat line. The color and finish are gorgeous. 100% worth the money and hype,” she writes.
One drawback is even though it says that it dries matte, it doesn’t. The finish is a bit glossy and not super matte. But I think that’s the case with most felt-tip liners. Only gel liners, pencil liners, and dip-in-the-pot ones with liquid product and a brush, like Lakme 9 to 5 and Colorbar Infinite 24 hours, deliver gorgeous matte finishes.

#8 Revlon ColorStay One-Stroke Defining Eyeliner – Blackest Black
Who here loves to use their kajal pencils as eyeliners? I do! They used to be my go-to in college when felt-tip liners weren’t that popular and gel liners weren’t affordable. Revlon One-Stroke Defining Eyeliner is an amazing eyeliner pencil that duals as a kajal on your waterline and as an eyeliner above the lashes. It’s smooth, intensely matte, and affordable as well!
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The Revlon ColorStay One-Stroke Defining eyeliner comes in the kajal pencil form, and besides the black color, it offers a beautiful green and SILVER color. Yes, that’s right. Silver. Imagine how stunning it would look on a night out or when you need just a little glam-up. For a price of Rs.620/-, you’ll get 1.2 grams of the product.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
One of the foremost benefits is that the eyeliner pencil is sturdy and doesn’t break off. It can be a real problem in pencil kajal. You can sharpen it to precision as the product is smooth and doesn’t require much effort.
Another great benefit is that the liner is free of mineral oil and is made of wax. Oils in eyeliner pencils are the reason behind smudging and giving you panda eyes. Since this product doesn’t have any, you can be ensured that it won’t budge unless you decide to remove it.
“I am totally satisfied with the product. The pigment, staying power, smoothness, waterproof element… all things are there. It’s a great buy and I highly recommend it,” says one of the recent purchasers.
No wonder it’s included on our list of best eyeliners in India.

#9 The Body Shop Eye Definer Black
The Body Shop is loved by all! Their natural, soothing ingredients, amazing smell (especially in body butter), and effective products have made them extremely popular in India since their arrival in 2006. While their skin-care is the most popular aisle, a few of their makeup products, like their eyeliner, is worth a purchase. Read the full details in the next sections.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The Body Shop Eye Definer comes in pencil form and can be used both on the waterline and as an eyeliner. It comes in a sleek form with a transparent plastic cap to seal the product. The design makes it easily portable. There’s 1.1 ml of product for a price of Rs.695/-.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
The Body Shop Eye Definer has a smooth, blendable texture that glides on sensitive eye skin with just one swipe. The formula is quite comfortable and ophthalmologically tested, so for anyone whose eyes get irritated easily, this is an amazing option. “Works as both eyeliner and kajal and doesn’t smudge at all. A bit on the higher side, but completely worth it,” writes one Amazon reviewer.
Plus, The Body Shop is known for cruelty-free, skin-soothing ingredients which always give sensible consumer relief to anyone who purchases.
One drawback of this product is having to carry the sharpener to create a precision eye look every time. The Body Shop’s range is also on the higher side of the budget and might not appeal to those looking for budget buys.

#10 Inglot AMC Matte Eyeliner Gel
If you’ve scrolled through any MUA’s page, you’d know how popular of a product Inglot AMC Matte Eyeliner Gel is. The high-precision eyeliner gives the opportunity to draw any shape of the liner, and the smooth, smudge-proof product makes for a satisfied client. Keep reading for a complete review.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
Let me start by saying that this has a whopping 5.5 grams of product for Rs.1499/-. None of the other eyeliners has that kind of weight in the product. So, even though the price is high, you’re getting more of the product too! As with any other gel eyeliner, there’s a small pot with the liner. Although, this one doesn’t come with a brush. There are a total of 27 colors and some of them are glitter too. I’m not really sure how many are available in India. Black, grey, and beige are definitely available though!
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
The Inglot AMC Gel Liner is one of the best gel eyeliners in India. Without a doubt! For the price, there’s a lot of product. The liner goes on smoothly with one stroke and doesn’t need any second takes. It’s smudge-proof and will last for hours. You have to wait for it to dry though (for 60 seconds) before you open your eyes.
Drawbacks can be price, splurging separately on an eyeliner brush, and drawing with a brush isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Plus, you also have to make sure you don’t lose the brush, which can be a major issue for someone who’s a little forgetful (ima point fingers at me here).

#11 Chambor Orosa Defining 10h Eyeliner Pencil
Chambor products have been popular in India, and are quite trustworthy. Most deliver results and are priced on an average pedestal. Their Orosa 10h is an eyeliner pencil that duals as both eyeliner and kajal. The convenient product is definitely worth considering when you’re looking to buy eyeliners in India.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The eyeliner pencil comes in a twister kajal form, so you don’t need a sharpener. There’s 0.35 grams of product for a price of Rs.745/-.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
The primary benefit is that it can be used a kohl for your waterline and as an eyeliner as well. So, no need to spend on different products. This also makes it easier to carry your makeup.
The eyeliner doesn’t budge for hours and has a rich pigmented color, which is easily buildable. “It’s the blackest kohl of all times and won’t smudge all day, having a 10 hour/ day job 5 days a week),” writes one reviewer.
A huge drawback can be since the pencil is a twist-up and can’t be sharpened, the tip of the product can get blunt making it difficult to draw a thin eyeliner. Another con is the price. When compared to other products on the list, the price is a little high for the amount of product.

#12 Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye pen – Ball Point
I mean, talk about convenience and making consumers’ lives easier. Revlon Colorstay offers a unique attribute none other eyeliners in India can match. It comes with a ballpoint tip that lets you place dots along the upper lash line and then, just connect them to create a seamless line. Amazing, right? Read on for more details
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The eyeliner comes in a sleek pencil form with a cap that tics when you close it. Besides the ballpoint, it also comes in a normal felt-tip liner shape, and a winged tip shape. There’s also a brown eyeliner available in this range, and the usual black, of course. You’ll get 1.6 grams of product for a price of Rs.1100/-.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
The first benefit is, of course, the ballpoint pen (Obviously!). For beginners looking for eyeliners in India and those who struggle with drawing a perfect line (like me!), this can be a savior. Especially when you know you’re in a rush, and the hands automatically start shaking. This will the perfect go-to during those times.
It offers a one-go pigmented color and dries completely matte. Not super matte, it has a very slight sheen, but a gorgeous hue nonetheless. It’s very smudge-proof, not completely water-proof though (will only come out if you cry a lot, a few tears won’t budge it!). Here’s what one Amazon reviewer said:
“I normally buy expensive eyeliners, thinking they’d be better. But just decided to try this one! I am BLOWN away. I ended up using it till it ran out and now, reordered more!.”
A drawback, as also reported by consumers, is that it might not be completely smudge-proof for those with oily skin. In that case, I recommend, using a non-oil-based primer first, and then follow up with the liner.
Rating: 9.5/10

#13 Benefit Cosmetics Roller Liner
Benefit Cosmetics roll-on liner has gained much hype in the past few years. The company has done a great job in reigning supreme in the mascara category, but unfortunately, their eyeliners haven’t been able to capture the same attention from consumers. Read on for full review and details.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The packaging of Benefit’s eyeliner is a super-cute one, such a fresh take than the golden and black of others. The cap is a pink one and the details on the product are written in the same color. You get 1 ml of product for a price of Rs.2190/-. When used daily, this can last you for about 2-3 months before drying out.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
This eyeliner is super pigmented, and you just need one swipe to get all the color. It dries super matte, like matte black, exactly what I love! You will have to give it around 20 seconds to completely dry up and leave on the gorgeous finish!
It won’t flake or budge for around 10 to 12 hours after putting it on. I’d recommend using a primer though if your eyeliner has a hard time staying on. The sleek packaging makes it portable and easier to carry anywhere you go!
The drawbacks are it isn’t as waterproof and will smudge a bit if you cry or if it rains. The staying power isn’t exactly 24 hours as mentioned on the product, but it does stay put for a good 9 to 12 hours though. For a more personalized, honest review, see this blog:
8 Girls Tried Benefits Cosmetics’s Roller Liner To See If It Would Last
Best Drugstore Dupe: Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen (get here). Youtuber Courtney Kelly reviews Revlon Colrostay, and she also swatches Benefit Cosmetics Roller Liner at 3:54. Revlon’s is more pigmented than Benefit’s, but the latter has a more matte finish. And when she went to wash her hands, the Benefit one came right off, while the Revlon one didn’t budge at all! This is shown at 6:26.

#14 Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner
This one’s an expensive, high-end eyeliner on the list, but worth the bucks when you want to splurge. It’s a traditional gel eyeliner with a pot, though it doesn’t come with a brush. Out of the 3 gel eyeliners mentioned in the list (L’oreal Super Liner (#4), Inglot Gel Liner (#10), and this one), only the #4 comes with a brush.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
The packaging of all Bobbi Brown products is classy, sleek, and minimal. And their gel eyeliner is no different. It comes in a transparent pot with its signature logo design on the top. For the price of Rs.1600/-, you get 3 grams of the product.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
The Bobbi Brown eyeliner does exactly what it says! It doesn’t smudge, at all. It won’t fade after a long day and doesn’t need any second takes. The product is very smooth and gets picked up easily with the brush. You can apply it with little to no effort and the application is seamless.
The product will require around a minute to dry, and the finish is a beautiful matte black. “My absolute favorite eyeliner. Lasts forever. The black is richly pigmented and dries very matte and lovely,” says one Amazon reviewer.
I think the drawbacks are the same as the Inglot AMC Gel Eyeliner. It requires you to purchase a separate brush, priced on the higher side, and drawing with a brush isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Rest, there is no problem with the product though!
Buy slanted eyeliner brush here.
Rating: 9.5/10
Affordable drugstore dupe is Inglot AMC Matte Eyeliner Gel. Though, you can’t really count the latter as a drugstore, given the price tag. In Inglot, you get a gram of product for Rs.270/-, while in Bobbi Brown, you get a gram of product for Rs.570/-. Despite the price tag, both are equally amazing products, in my opinion. The experiences of each one can vary from person to person.

#15 Smashbox Always On Gel Liner
Coming to our final product is the Smashbox Always On Gel Liner, which doubles as a kajal pencil and an eyeliner. The smooth texture of the product makes it a favorite among makeup vloggers to create a smoked-out eye look! Scroll to see the full review.
Physical Attributes & Quantitative Measurements:
Smashbox Always On Gel Liner is a pencil-type eyeliner on the list, comes in a sleek, compact shape. It comes in two sizes – mini and normal size. The mini-one has 0.8 grams of product for Rs.690/- and 1.2 grams of product for Rs.1800/-.
Benefits & How It Compares To Others:
The Smashbox Always On Gel liner has a very smooth texture and doesn’t dry instantly. That’s why it’s the best one to create a smudged eye look. The blendability ensures you won’t have to keep swirling the brushes to create a smokey. It has a very strong pigment and is waterproof for almost 24 hours. “Absolutely smudge-proof and pitch black,” writes one user. “It’s super soft to apply and very long-lasting,” writes another one.
A HUGE drawback of this eyeliner is that it’s very difficult to sharpen. You’ll need a very thin and gentle sharpener, otherwise, the product will break. It also doesn’t sharpen to a precise point. No wonder it’s considered the best for smudged-out eyeliner effect.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10

Pro Tip: Prime Your Eyelids To Make Your Eyeliner Last Longer
Creating the perfect liner seems like an achievement, but it isn’t really is if the lines start budging or smearing after a few hours. Applying a good eye primer (like Anastasia Beverly Hills Primer) locks the eyeliner in place and increases its longevity.
