Highway actor Randeep Hooda married his girlfriend Lin Laishram in a culturally rooted ceremony in Manipur, Imphal. Unlike other celebrities who keep their wedding a secret, the duo announced their nuptials on social media by sharing the good news with their followers. “Taking a leaf out of Mahabharata where Arjuna married Manipuri warrior princess Chitrangada, we are getting married with the blessings of our friends and family,” the announcement stated. After getting married in Manipur, the duo intends to hold a reception for the Bollywood fraternity and other close friends who live in Mumbai, where both reside.

The bride and groom arrived in the capital city 2 days prior to the wedding date to conduct some pre-wedding festivities. They shared a picture of the same on their social media. For the wedding, only the nearest & dearest were present for the nuptials. Everything reflected their minimal and simple vision: from the decor to the seating arrangements and the attire. For the occasion, Lin donned a red lehenga with a traditional Manipuri skirt and Hooda wore a white kurta-pajama set. Jewelry-wise, she wore elaborate gold jewelry pieces with a multi-layered necklace, mathapatti, and bangles. To complement, she went for the dewy, flawless base with sangria-red lips, smokey bridal eye makeup, and a traditional bridal bindi design.
People were all praises for the duo and applauded for keeping their culture’s traditions and customs alive. Though Hooda is a Jat, he wanted to follow the traditions of his partner Liashram. Speaking to the press before the wedding, he said, “I felt that it’s only respectful to come and marry in the bride’s traditions. However, I have heard that in Meitei love marriages, the groom has to sit for a very long time. So, that’s something but I am looking forward to the ceremony and experiencing my partner’s culture. I just hope I don’t make any mistakes.” Continuing, “We have been talking about Manipuri culture for a long time. I am praying for a happy future filled with lots of kids and abundance. I love that we’re taking our friendship forward and becoming family.”

Both Randeep & Lin have revealed that they have known each other for a long time and met when they were both in theatre. Hooda was Liashram’s senior at the time. “We have been friends for a very long time, we have had a great friendship since we met. We met at Naseeruddin Shah’s theater group called Motley,” revealed Lin in an interview. It’s unclear when this friendship turned into love, but it’s clear that it’s this camaraderie that led the couple to push the commitment in their relationship further. For the past 2 years, the two have always been posting cute birthday pictures for each other, which further rested the rumors of their relationship and confirmed the romance. Last month, reports were rife with an intimate marriage in November and the same was confirmed by the couple later on!
