Karva Chauth holds prime significance for married women in India. On this day, women fast all day long for safety and longevity of their husband’s lives. However, it’s 2020. Why should only women fast for their husbands? It should happen the other way around as well. This year we saw many husbands participating in the fast with hashtag #fastforher trending on Instagram. Celebrities like Prince Narula, Chetan Bhagar, Hiten Tejwani fasted for their wives and I’m sure many non-celebrity husbands followed suit.
Although, fasting is just one aspect of the festival. Women also plan their outfits, makeup, apply mehendi, get sargi, gifts and some special love from their mothers-in-law. This year we witnessed some charismatic Karvachauth looks on both celebrity and non-celebrity brides alike! Newly-weds are always looking for dapper outfit inspiration, and this blog can also help you get some ideas for the upcoming festival season.

Priyanka Chopra: Our dear Peecee always keeps up with her Indian roots, no matter where she is. While in LA, she celebrated her second Karva Chauth with Nick Jonas, looking stunning as always in a scarlet red sari. Shilpa Shetty: We live for Shilpa Shetty’s Karva Chauth looks. She was the one we were most looking forward to! And she didn’t fail to impress us, yet again. For KC 2020, Shetty clad herself in a red & golden Masaba Gupta saree. A budget saree like this always makes a winning choice for a bride-to-be’s wardrobe. To complete the ensemble, the star chose a heavy necklace set and a red bangle stack. Letting her gorgeous tresses down and keeping her makeup simple, she looked nothing less than a vision that day.
Bipasha Basu: Bipasha Basu has always treated us with the best Karva Chauth pictures consistently since she got married. This year she opted for a regal red kurta with orange dupatta. Being a Bengali, Basu loves her big red bindi and never misses pairing it with Indian outfits. She styled her kurta set with a red bindi, bold red lip and meenakari earrings. With intimate functions trending during Covid-19, this would make a perfect outfit choice for anyone.
Kajol: It’s raining red in Bollywood this Karvachauth. We love red so, no whiners over here! The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai star picked a blood red saree for the occasion with a strappy blouse in the same color. The drape was slightly embroidered in silver on the hemline to give it a romantic twist. Kajol rounded off the whole look with a contemporary gold set and a nude lip shade instead of the popular favorite red.
Miheeka: Miheeka & Rana’s wedding was the first one we witnessed post lockdown and Miheeka didn’t fail to dazzle us with her outfit choices. For the annual celebration, Bajaj chose a banarasi silk weave bedecked with golden embroidery. Keeping up with her simplistic style, she paired the outfit with a choker set, traditional blouse design and karas. We don’t blame Rana for having his eyes on her, we couldn’t stop staring at how gorgeous she looked as well!
Kajal Aggarwal: Kajal & Gautam’s wedding is the recent celeb wedding everyone was swooning over! Aggarwal’s conversation-starter outfits with bespoke jewellery have been a feast to the eyes. And she was a vision for her Karva Chauth as well. Her KC ensemble came with a candy red saree, embroidered on the border and a halter-neck blouse. The fab look was teamed with a small bindi, kundan meena earrings and her bridal choora.
Anissa Malhotra: Anissa and Armaan’s grand wedding celebrations took just before Covid-19 swept off the concept of big fat Indian weddings. It was their first Karva Chauth, so naturally Anissa put efforts into her outfit details. For the Kapoor family annual KC celebrations, Malhotra donned a monochrome red outfit with a net lehenga and draped her dupatta in saree style. She kept her styling classic and only included newly wed elements like mangalsutra and bangles in her look.
Yuvika Choudhary: Yuvika is yet another celebrity whose Karva Chauth look was the talk of the town. Instead of the usual red, Yuvika picked a magenta pink anarkali by Aacho for her Karva Chauth. What’s noteworthy is despite the effortless silhouette, her outfit stood out because of the embellished dupatta design. That’s the key takeaway from her look: jazz up any of your simple kurti in a minute with a decked up dupatta.
Non-Celebrity Brides
Reha Vij: While most blogs are mainly focused on celebrity looks, we were sure we wanted to include Karva Chauth looks from our real brides as well. And they were as glamorous and inspirational as our celebs. Starting off the list with bride Reha who took the basic saree look to a whole another level with her multicolored drape. She opted for an all eyes-on-me rani haar to go with it along with a zero neck blouse. Her hair was pulled back with a parting allowing her dewy makeup look and chunky earrings to take center stage.
Silvy Mehta: Remember our blue bride Silvy? She recreated her statement bridal avatar this Karva Chauth with a few tweaks. She ditched the double dupatta for a single one, let her hair loose and opted for a simple, glowing makeup instead of the smokey eyes, glam look she donned on her wedding. If you’re planning to re-wear your wedding lehenga anytime soon, take cues from Silvy on how to nail it down with perfection.
Samridhi Dhillon: Amongst all the brides who have ever gone viral, no one has done it quite like Samriddhi. That’s why her blog is quite aptly titled ‘Accidental Celebridey’. She was seen dressed in a pink anarkali set by Ritu Kumar and the reel covered each detail of her Karva Chauth get-up. Her romantic beauty look consisted of a pinkish red lip, flushed cheeks and kohled eyes.
Shalini Verma: Another one of our absolute favorite brides, Shalini wore a dusty red saree for Karva Chauth with a red border. The easiest way to spruce up any Indian outfit is to add statement jewellery to it. Shalini wore a choker set with her outfit, but the OTT nath engraved with her husband Rishi’s name on it took the center-stage. Stunning, isn’t she?
Sagarika Khanna: Wondering what’s the one thing that should definitely be a part of your bridal trousseau? Well, it’s a banarasi red saree. The royalty and grace it exudes is unmatchable and you can wear it on any occasion – festive or formal, intimate or grand. Take hints from Sagarika’s Karva Chauth look on how to style a benarasi sari and bookmark it for inspiration.
Roshni: Our most recently featured bride Roshni also opted for a silk saree for her first KC. With her red sari, she opted for a gold choker and traditional red choora. She completed her look with a red bindi, nude lip and bright red sindoor.
Deepika Ghose: The RCB girl needs no introduction. She gained overnight fame when a cameraman zoomed in on her during an IPL match and overnight was declared India’s new national crush. In March, she wedded her long-time boyfriend in an intimate ceremony. Most recently, for her Karva Chauth, Ghose dressed in a printed lehenga set by Payal singhal that complemented her sleek figure flawlessly.
Sonaakshi Raaj: When a designer gets geared up for her first Karva Chauth, you know it would be worth drooling over! Mumbai-based couturier clothed herself in a pinkish-red saree for the festival and teamed it up with minimal makeup, braided Gajra bun and a pair of chandbali earrings. Scroll down for a closer look!
Yashika Khatri: Mirror-work lehengas are all the rage these days. Keeping up with the trend, bride Yashika opted for a hot pink lehenga set adorned with beautiful mirror work all over. Shivani Sharma: Banarasi silk is a timeless weave you can never go wrong with. Blogger Shivani championed the benarasi saree trend with her impeccable styling. She got ready on her own for the festival, so kept the makeup simple, pulled her hair into a low bun and wore just her mangalsutra and chooda as jewellery.
Avni Kalia: Bored with the overdose of red in this blog? Blogger Avni is like a breath of fresh air in her breathtaking violet saree! What we love most about her entire look is the deep smokey eyes & fresh face makeup. As current times are inching towards intimate ceremonies, a weightless, airy outfit with a glam makeup is what you need to match the atmosphere while complementing your diva self.
Our next focus is on Diwali. We are sure both our celebrity and non-celebrity brides would give us a look worth swooning over. We can’t wait to put them all together for you guys so the saving becomes easy! Stay tuned. 💖
