Covid-19 has sure blessed us with some serene intimate weddings. Being used to seeing bustling Indian weddings with at least a 1000 people in presence to small micro weddings with just 50 people is a huge change, but comes with it’s own befitting advantages. Here are some intimate wedding perks for brides looking for a silver lining.
Another wonderful trend that’s walked in with the intimate weddings are intimate roka ceremonies. Brides clothed in simple outfits, at-home festivities, DIY decor, small yet endearing engagement cakes etc. are just some elements that have utterly impressed us. So, today we will take you through intimate roka celebrations of 4 couples to help you flawlessly plan your own.

#1 Anmol & Abhishek
Anmol met Abhishek at their college in Delhi. Anmol was a fresher, while Abhishek was a senior at the time. “The first time I saw him, I fell in love with him. I used to stalk him everyday in college,” says Anmol. After being smitten by him for a while, she sent him a friend request, he accepted in minutes and they started chatting right away. The date was 18th September and it was clear from that first message there was something special about their bond. So they celebrate their anniversary on 18th September each year.
“We started talking day and night, each day, every day. We were completely opposite personalities. But you know what they say, Opposites attract. So slowly and gradually we fell in love,” describes Anmol of her happily ever after story.
“In 2020, we finally decided to introduce our families to each other. Luckily, everything went smoothly and our roka date was fixed on 29th March. We had made all the preparations, but then Covid-19 happened and we had to postpone everything.” After some deliberation, the couple decided to have an intimate roka ceremony (held on Abhishek’s birthday, 26th June) followed by an intimate wedding, which will be held in December.
“I have always admired intimate functions and small gatherings, so I guess everything turned out just fine for us,” says our happy bride-to-be.
We love everything about Anmol & Abhishek’s roka – coordinated outfits, simple decor, romantic portraits and of course, the sweet cake with perfect inscriptions.

#2 Swati & Suraj
Swati and Suraj met on Facebook. Yes, it’s a modern-day love story. Suraj’s cousin was their mutual friend. “How it went from friendship to relationship, we never got to know,” says Swati. After e-meeting on FB, they met each other and Suraj was all set on making Swati his wife one day, expressing the same to his lady love. “It sounded funny to me, meeting someone after 10 days of just text conversation and hearing this,” Swati shares her thoughts.
The couple are supposed to get married next year in February. They held an intimate roka ceremony a few days back with only DIY decor elements, Swati planned it out all by herself. With all the shops around closed, she arranged the decor with all the available stuff around the house, picked the flowers from the garden and made a few calls to get everything going. Devour your eyes with their majestic roka pictures.

#3 Khushi & Nihal
Khushi best describes her love story with Sima Taparia’s go-to statement “Our stars were aligned”. Khushi & Nihal were acquaintances for the longest time until one of their mutual friends decided to play cupid and set them up. “We were stuck like glue and inseparable after that,” describes Khushi of her hearty beginning to something she’ll cherish forever.
“Everything just went in this smooth direction that it was all so easy and fast! We are like north and south poles, but we’ve been raised the same way and share the same values and bonds,” says Khushi. When the basis of the couple is this strong, the pictures sure radiate the chemistry. Check them out.
“I would have it no other way for sure, it’s truly a blessing.”

#4 Sunakshi & Abhinav
With all the decor elements arranged from Amazon, Sunakshi and Abhinav had a surreal roka event in the basement of their home. The couple met each other at a friend’s party. And they started meeting frequently after their first introduction. Following a lot of dinners, parties and trips, Abhinav proposed to Sunakshi with a promise ring on their trip to Norway.
Their families met and they planned 600+ guest roka celebrations in April 2020. But then Corona happened, so all the arrangements were completely ruined. They knew the only way out was to have an intimate roka ceremony, because it’s best to start their lives together as soon as possible. So they threw a micro-roka party with just 20 people in presence. Take a look!
