10 Deepika Padukone Bridal Looks That Will Never Go Out Of Style

After making her debut in ‘Om Shanti Om’, Deepika Padukone has often set a statement in Indian wear, both on-screen and off-screen. Her signature style *no surprises here* is a royal saree and low bun. While that’s an easy-going look for the actress, she has always given a nod to lehengas whenever she gets a chance. After all, it’s not as practical to wear a lehenga as it is to don a saree. And boy, whenever she steps out in a lehenga, doesn’t she leave us all mesmerized?

Especially when the lehenga, or any other outfit choice for that matter, pertains to a bridal look. Whether it was the conversation-starter red lehenga at her Sindhi wedding or her on-screen outfits for period roles of Padmavati or Mastani, the actress rocks this ethnic avatar better than anyone else we know. Here’s a roundup of 10 Deepika Padukone bridal looks that will serve as a bridal inspiration for years to come.

Deepika As Mastani:

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period dramas and Deepika Padukone’s ethnic looks are a match made in heaven. The three movies this combination has blessed us with, all boasted of #deepveer’s unmatchable chemistry, larger-than-life sets, opulent backdrops, and well, stunning outfits. Bhansali is a detail-oriented person and he loves to work with people aligning with the same idea. So he roped in costume designer Anju Modi for the movie, and she made sure of embodying the grandiose of the period and character’s personalities into Mastani’s outfits. She later showcased a few pieces of the movie’s collection in her fashion show. Scroll through to see our favorite Mastani ethnic looks.

Konkani Wedding Of Deepika & Ranveer:

After 6 years of dating, Deepika and Ranveer married in a four-day destination wedding in Italy. Following a vibrant mehendi ceremony, the couple hosted two picturesque wedding ceremonies before flying to India for their reception ceremonies. The first wedding ceremony was the Konkani one, honoring the bride’s traditional roots. Padukone picked a brocade silk Kanjeevaram saree for the nuptials, which took 45 days to complete. The three-layered gajra bun, exquisite temple jewelry, and natural makeup look made her bridal avatar worth bookmarking.

Sindhi Wedding Ceremony:

Deepveer’s Sindhi wedding pictures were the last set of portraits they released from their wedding. We do have some insider pictures from their Konkani wedding, but none could be found of their Sindhi wedding. All the decoding of the couple’s looks came from their vendors and zoomed out pictures. Padukone, as usual, looked breathtaking. For the Sindhi wedding ceremony, Deepika wore a decadent red and golden Sabyasachi lehenga. And the most attention-worthy detail of her ensemble was the dupatta veil with incantation ‘Sada Saubhagyavati Bhavah’ sewn on the border. The bride went big with the baubles and wore mangtikka, kalire, heavy necklace set, and chooda with her lehenga. To complete, she opted for a dewy base makeup with statement eyes done by her go-to makeup artist, Sandhya Shekhar.

Mumbai Reception:

Out of all the reception looks of Deepika, this one’s got to be our favorite. I mean, just look at the sheer regality Padukone was dripping with that day. Her intricately designed chikankari saree by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla came with an equally embellished veil. She picked her favorite set of earrings – chandbalis, and a heavy choker set to go with the look. Beauty wise, Padmavat actress drifted away from usual natural look a bit and went heavy with the bronzer and highlighter this time. She chose her signature brown smokey eyes and a classic nude lip.

Deepika In Dil Guldasta Lehenga For A Wedding Party:

After the couple reached their hometown Mumbai from Italy, the groom’s side of the family (Bhavnanis) hosted a wedding party for the couple. Only bride & groom portraits were released by their clothing designers, the rest of the insider pictures were sourced from the guests. Deepika had her style game strong and channeled Frieda Kahlo’s signature beauty look with her Sabyasachi lehenga. The designer’s ‘Dil Guldasta’ lehenga, which many brides wore after Deepika, featured intricate floral threadwork and a V-neck blouse. The emerald-choker set added further shine to her look.

South Indian Bride:

The year 2013, Deepika became a superstar, when her 4 back-to-back releases, namely Race-2, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, and Ram-Leela, took the box-office by storm. While all of them had Padukone dressed in some mesmerizing clothing, the one which impressed us the most, considering we are wedding bloggers, was her South Indian bridal look from Chennai Express. Silk saree, gajra bun, and ravishing gold jewelry, the actress exuded ethereal vibes as a South Indian bride in the movie.

Deepika In Manish Malhotra:

Seldom does Padukone choose a designer other than Sabyasachi for her ethnic wear? But if there’s one that can match her preferred designer’s grandiose is Manish Malhotra. She has walked for Malhotra three times during her career, with Shahrukh Khan, Fawad Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor respectively. While we loved all of them, the one that captured traditional bridal essence perfectly is the opulent red lehenga she wore while opening ICW 2016. Immaculately designed and skillfully crafted, the attire was the finest piece in the couturier’s ‘The Persian Story’ collection. Scroll to see her spectacular appearance that day.

Deepika As Padmavati:

Trust Sanjay Leela Bhansali to stun us with his portrayal of yesteryear royalty and make us feel as if we have actually traveled back in time. The first poster of Padmavat featured Deepika as Rani Padmavati in all her glory. And as the trailers, songs, and finally, the movie was released, everyone was raving about Deepika’s beauty and costumes. Her whole wardrobe was created by designers Rimple & Harpreet Narula, who traveled around India to collect textiles employed in her outfits. Scroll to see her impressive ensembles in the movie.

Sabyasachi Red Saree:

Deepika Padukone in a Sabyasachi saree is always a vision to stare at. Her love for the designer is eternal. We see the couturier’s clothes on Deepika first before he showcases them as part of his collection, especially the sarees. A few years back, she wore a graceful benarasi Sabyasachi saree with a neat low bun and magnificent jewelry for a Sabyasachi collection shoot. That bridal look is certainly an inspiration for brides wanting to wear a saree on their wedding day.

Last but not the least, taking you down the memory lane, to one of Deepika’s ‘old is gold’ movies – Love Aaj Kal. A modern-day love story wrapped with the intent that love evokes the same unexplainable emotions, no matter the time period. In the romantic drama, our protagonist wore two different bridal looks. One in a soft lilac lehenga embellished with silver work and a classic red bridal look for pheras. For North Indian brides, a classic inspiration look couldn’t get any better than this.
