The “Ghar Ek Mandir” costars Shrenu Parikh and Akshay Mhatre tied the knot in a scenic wedding ceremony in the former’s hometown Vadodara, Gujarat. The two have been dating for quite some time now, but they didn’t make things official until they were serious about each other, divulged Shrenu in a recent interview. For the wedding, the bride was seen in an orange-red lehenga, which she paired with heavy jewelry pieces comprising a choker, mathapatti, and dangler earrings. Makeup-wise, she kept things simple and elegant aligning with the day nuptials. The groom, on the other hand, opted for a red sherwani color coordinated with the bride perfectly.
Before the wedding ceremony, the couple also hosted pre-wedding revelries in the bride’s hometown itself. The celebrations started with a mehndi ceremony for which Shrenu opted for an ombre green lehenga with a blouse that came with ruffled sleeves. She styled the attire with floral headgear and opted for a full-hand mehndi design for the occasion. This was followed by haldi and sangeet rituals. Haldi saw both bride and groom coordinate in green. Shrenu wore a nauvari saree and Akshay wore a kurta-pyjama for the occasion.
The pictures from their Sangeet ceremony are yet to be released, but stories from the friends and family attending the function went viral. For the sangeet and engagement ceremony, the bride wore a monochrome purple lehenga with diamond jewelry. She kept her hair in a ponytail and kept her makeup dewy and glossy for the night celebrations. Akshay wore a white tuxedo for the affair and the bride and groom’s video where the duo were dancing on stage went viral instantly.
Shrenu made things official in an interview in 2023 and the wedding rumors started doing rounds in December. Here’s what she said, ”Akshay is just the kind of guy you would like to introduce to your parents. We are very similar in many ways. He grew up in a joint family set-up and I love the way he takes care of everyone in the family. I am a difficult person, but he handles my tantrums well. He is a very sensitive and understanding guy. On the professional front too, we would love to work together again. Our families have met and while there’s nothing to announce right now, we have received the green signal from our elders. We are heading towards it (marriage) and whenever Akshay and I feel ready, we will take the giant leap.”
Looks like the planning had already started at this point. Speculations have it there will be a Mumbai reception in the coming days. For now, wishing the newly-weds a happy and peaceful marriage ahead!
