The woman we’re featuring today needs no introduction. She caught a million hearts and became the nation’s heartthrob with just one random picture captured during last year’s IPL. If you, by any chance, don’t remember her, here’s a picture that would start ringing bells immediately.
She gained over 150k followers overnight and became an Internet sensation. She also procured a blue tick and was now a verified social media celebrity, who remains relevant still.
Deepika married her longtime partner Chitang in a home wedding ceremony followed by a bigger celebration in Bangalore just before lockdown. She has been posting pictures from her events and we’ve been swooning over all of them. Let’s take you through them one by one:
How They Met?
Deepika and Chitang have known each other since school. They never interacted much then though. As they entered the same college, they formed the same group of high school friends and started hanging out together. On one fateful night, Chitang asked her out and slowly, they fell in love. The splendid proposal happened on their 6th year dating anniversary. Chitang organised a trip to Coorg with his lady love and got down on one knee besides a waterfall to ask Deepika to be his forever! And she said YES! (Phew!) 😅😍
Deepika and Chitang started planning their Thailand destination wedding when we hadn’t even heard of Corona (Ah! Those simpler times!). As the Covid-19 spread, they had to cancel their wedding just 10 days before the date.
However, what’s meant to be will always find its way. The couple didn’t want to delay their marriage, so they got married in the most adorable setup on the same date. For the #deetang nuptials, Deepika chose her Nani’s home as the wedding venue and only parents, grandparents and siblings as guests. Deepika’s parents got married in the same spot, so the venue was extra special to her!
For the home wedding, Deepika slipped into Sabyasachi’s Dil Guldasta lehenga that Deepika also wore to one of her receptions. Another notable aspect of her wedding attire was the splendid jewels that included uncut diamonds, emeralds, meenakari and emeralds, blended to create such beautiful bridal jewellery. She kept her makeup simple and tied hair in a floral bun. Chatting complemented his bride in a beige sherwani and layered emerald necklace.
After the wedding shenanigans, the couple hosted a low-key reception party in Mumbai before moving on to celebrations in Bangalore. The newly wed wore a stunning Manish Malhotra creation for the event and no one could take their eyes off of her. The white lehenga had a mini trail, giving her a princess bride look. She paired her attire with an exquisite choker set, subtle makeup and a straight, wet hair look. The bridal portraits are nothing less than a sight for the sore eyes!
After the official nuptials in Mumbai, the couple had a beautiful white wedding planned in Deepika’s hometown, Bangalore. The ceremony was held on 8th March, just 2 weeks before the nationwide lockdown. Deepika opted for an embellished all-white lehenga, custom-made by luxury designer Cherie D. Not only was her lehenga white, she went ahead and painted her hands with white henna as well and complemented it with matte white nails. Amping her entire look was the stellar diamond jewellery, white chooda and floral bun, of course, with white flowers. That’s not all – the huge trail, phoolon ki chaadar, floral decoration and groom’s outfit were all in WHITE! Her unique bridal look and wedding details were bewitching is an understatement. #deetang had a vintage themed pre-wedding shoot that oozed of their epic chemistry and mutual love. Captured superbly by Wedding Nama, the pictures should be bookmarked by anyone planning a pre-wedding soon. Chitand and Deepika coordinated in blush pink for the shoot. While Deepika wore an off-shoulder net dress, Chitang donned a blush pink shirt and blue jeans. Here are the cute-sy pictures you’ll absolutely love!
One of the couple’s pre-wedding functions included a fun and lively pool party. Bride-to-be didn’t fail to impress us with her trousseau choices again. Did we mention Deepika is a stylist herself? Probably that’s why she nailed each and every look of hers to perfection. Clad in a gray Manish Malhotra outfit with ruffle pants and a corset top, Deepika stunned us with her modish dress for the party. Love the puffy ponytail hairstyle too, that’s one of our favorite bridal hairstyles right now!
Despite the pandemic, Deepika made sure she reveled in each and every function an Indian wedding entails, taking care of all the precautions of course, and inviting only her close family and friends. For the chooda ceremony, she wore a shimmery pastel pink co-ord set with stylish sleeves. Tying her tresses in a high pony and letting her skin breathe with minimal makeup, we can’t help but dote on her sweet pictures.
Just before getting married, the couple had a small Ganesh Pooja ceremony at their own home. They coordinated flawlessly in lavender outfits, with Deepika clothed in an embroidered lavender lehenga and Chitang in a 3-piece kurta-pyjama set. Bride-to-be’s floral hairstyle and dewy makeup was just perfect for the day function.
This is the latest bridal inspiration RCB girl gave us! Her starry Sangeet night had some endearing couple portraits, but we are mesmerised by her outfit yet AGAIN. Deepika clad herself in an ombre blue lehenga for the sangeet, custom-made by Natasha Dalal label. Keeping the styling game on-point, she teamed her lehenga with smokey eyes, half-up half-down hairstyle and an impressive bangle stack.
It was a captivating scroll, wasn’t it? Which one of her looks is your favorite, tell us in the comments below!
