Love always finds its way. Sometimes when you aren’t really looking for it! That’s how Gurpreet and Shiv’s fairytale story unfolded. They were both establishing their fledgling careers and weren’t actually looking for romance. However, their stars had already inclined together. They first met at a chance encounter in Sydney where the family had got together from different corners to celebrate Shiv’s grand aunt’s 90th birthday.
They entered at the same time for the party, spoke briefly, and in the end, Shiv’s cousin asked him to drop Gurpreet home. Unbeknownst to the family, this young bachelor was taken in by this pretty, vivacious, and intelligent girl, much as he tried to conceal his excitement.
“On the drive home, we engaged in light-hearted banter while discussing the show Suits (Shiv has a law degree). Shiv didn’t waste time in getting my phone number. However, life got in the way and it was only after a couple of months when Shiv got back from a family trip from Hawaii that we finally caught up at an idyllic beach in Sydney. We were only meant to have lunch but ended up spending many hours together. Fast-forward to August 2019 when Shiv and I were on a holiday in New York, he surprised me with the most beautiful proposal on a Rooftop bar.”, and that’s how life blessed these two with the love of their dreams!
Isn’t that just a perfect example of how destiny works to bring together two people meant to be? We think so!
Once these two love birds decided to tie the knot, they had the craziest experience planning their wedding as they both live outside India. They just made one trip to India for 10 days before the wedding for shortlisting everything and arrived 20 days right before the wedding to get the rest of all done! Phew! We got anxiety just typing that.
And yes, she got her bridal shopping done in just 2.5 days. But we will do a separate blog on that later, which will include her experiences at the Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra and Rimple & Harpreet stores!
However, all’s well that ends well. They had a blast at their wedding and bride Gurpreet was a stunner at all her wedding functions!
Enough of chatting, let’s dig right into her wedding album.
Mehendi:
A cozy mehendi event was organized to kickstart the wedding ceremony. The bride was seen in a Sabyasachi sharara set for the event and styled with a choker set and a maangtikka. Her soft smokey eyes with chiseled cheeks and chocolate-y brown lips were definitely a treat to the eyes.
Sangeet:
And then it was time for the boisterous sangeet night! Gurpreet chose an effortless Manish Malhotra outfit for the occasion. Shiv wore a stylish kurta pyjama by the same designer and made for a dapper groom.
Haldi:
Effortless and elegant – those were the words that described Gurpreet’s Haldi look! She wore a pale yellow lehenga choli set with multicolor embroidery on the lower border. She paired it up with beautiful floral jewellery from @pruneindia. The groom, on the other hand, wore a vibrant yellow kurta with white pyjama to add grace to the lively Haldi function.
Wedding:
For her Anand Karaj ceremony, Gurpreet wore a unique and one of a kind Rimple and Harpreet lehenga. RAH brides are really trending this wedding season and we think the designer’s noteworthy collection is giving a tough competition to Sabyasachi’s charm. Gurpreet has told us all about why she opted for Rimple & Harpeet over Sabyasachi, but more on that later!
Gurpreet made a breathtaking bride on her big day in a pink lehenga with frills on the bottom and intricate net embroidery on the rest of the piece. She styled it with the evergreen double dupatta, low bun, blush pink makeup look and a plum shade lip color. She kept her jewelry simple with a maangtikka, traditional nath, jhumka earrings and a choker necklace. Groom color-contrasted his bride with a pastel blue kurta, white sherwani dupatta, and a pink safa.
That’s how the couple’s beautiful wedding celebrations went down! Coming soon is Gurpreet’s Delhi bridal shopping experience.
