#LockdownWedding: Chaitali Got Married Wearing Her Mom’s Saree & Nani’s Vintage Jewellery

When two people are meant to be together, there is absolutely nothing that can stop them. Not even a global pandemic. Coronavirus has really hampered the dreams of couples wanting to have a big fat Indian wedding. There are some who still want it and have been waiting for times to get better by July, others have postponed their wedding to winters or next year but there are a few who aren’t letting anything get in the way of their wedding day. Like Chaitali and Nitin

The couple had been planning their wedding intensively for the last 6 months, which was supposed to happen on 2nd May. Their engagement party was scheduled on 16th March, just a few days before lockdown. They had a blast then. Here are a few pictures from the event:

But none of them could have predicted what was going to happen next. Well, yeah, it still seems surreal of what’s happening around us. The couple wanted a big fat Indian Punjabi wedding so they waited till the 15th of April for the lockdown to lift. They soon realized that a big celebration was risky as well as impossible to do amidst such a situation.

So they postponed their wedding to the end of 2020 so they can enjoy fully with all their friends and family present. They contacted their vendors, worked out a way for canceling/ rescheduling what was possible. And that was it!

However, on the 1st of May, the bride’s father-in-law called her and asked if she still wanted to get married on 2nd May, which was within 12 hours. Chaitali & Nitin were shocked because nothing was planned! Although, they were missing each other like crazy every single day and couldn’t wait to start their lives together. So they said YES! Clearly, the next 12 hours were complete madness.

They arranged for special permission by 6 PM and a pandit by 7 PM. Chaitali couldn’t pick her lehenga so she decided to wear her mother’s saree, which was from Meena Bazaar. For jewellery, she wore her Nani’s vintage gold choker. And she did her makeup and hair herself.

But this love story had another hurdle to cross. Groom and his family had to travel cross-border which was still dicey at the point. But you know what they say, love always finds its way! The groom’s side reached in the morning and the wedding ceremony was held with only the closest of their family. The bride went to her husband’s home the same day, which is in Chandigarh.

This is what the bride had to say about all of this, “The wedding was an intimate beautiful affair. It took a pandemic to make me realize that spending my life with my best friend, who I’ve been dating for years, is what I actually wanted. There are so many people that I know whose weddings were canceled or postponed due to COVID-19, but God had some other plans for us. I am so happy we got married the way we did, with people closest to us.”
