Bride Ruchika Said No To ‘Vidaai’ Ritual For Good + Her Beautiful Wedding Pictures!

We love brides who stray away from the usual wedding traditions and include something they love and value in their celebrations. Whether it’s performing a ritual in their own unique way or opting out of it completely or perhaps, choosing a clothing or styling choice that makes them stand out. Ruchika is one such bride. We approached her because of the grace her wedding pictures exuded, but ended up falling in love with her unique wedding story!

Ruchika decided to forego any rituals that made her feel uncomfortable, including her Vidaai. ‘I never wanted my parents to do my Kanyadaan and I’m not a property to be given away. I’m a human being and not an object that can be passed from one to another’, says Ruchika. So her wedding didn’t end in the usual Kanyadaan or Vidaai. ‘I’m still my parent’s daughter and will always remain their daughter.’, she added. ‘The only thing that has changed is now, I have two sets of loving parents’ – what a beautiful thought!

Moreover, her wedding didn’t have any separate functions or pujas. And the milni ceremony was performed by Ruchika’s mausi and the groom, Vaibhav’s mami. As they say behind every woman of purpose stands a man who is supportive and kind. Ruchika credits her husband Viabhav along with their families for their faith and belief in her and not forcing any rituals.

How They Met:

Vaibhav and Ruchika have been together for 9 years now. They met in college. Vaibhav was 2 years senior to Ruchika. They literally met through a series of happy accidents and Vaibhav proposed to her at the fresher’s party. Since then, they’ve been part BFF’s, part lovers! ‘I’m so lucky to have married my best friend’, says Ruchika!

Ruchika is a software engineer turned MUA. And she is quite an expert in her field. Check out her work: @brushnblushbyruchika

Mehendi:

We are certainly crushing over Ruchika’s minimalistic mehendi look. Dressed in a lime green ensemble with pink dupatta, she perfectly paired her outfit with floral jewellery, open wavy hair and soft makeup look! That picture of her with her father sure made us emotional.

Sangeet:

One of our favorite looks from her ceremonies or probably, one of our favorite sangeet night looks EVER. Ruchika customised her outfit from a boutique in Delhi and what a beauty it is! It looks comfortable to wear and dance the night off yet adds the charm a bride needs in her lehenga. Vaibhav wore a regal outfit himself and set some major #groomgoals with his style!

Haldi

Ruchika’s haldi ceremony was a low-key affair. She wore a beautiful yellow saree for the function and clearly, everyone was having fun lathering the sweet bride with ubtan!

Wedding:

For her day wedding, Ruchika wore a breathtaking pink lehenga and Vaibhav looked dashing in an ivory sherwani. She made a graceful bridal entry under phoolon ki chaadar and the whole ceremony looks so calming and serene.

Reception:

Next up was the grand finale night. For the ceremony, Ruchika wore a gorgeous bronze gold lehenga and Vaibhav looked dashing in a three-piece suit. Their happy faces really lightened up the room.
