Mouni Roy has been making headlines today – for all the right reasons. The 36-year actress married her beau Suraj Nambiar, 34-years old, in Hilton Goa on 27th January 2022. It’s said that the couple had both Malyali and Bengali wedding ceremonies, to honor the groom and bride’s heritage respectively. But till now, only the pictures from Malyali ceremonies have been released. Many of the couple’s close friends, like Mouni’s co-star in her debut serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Mandira Bedi were present at the nuptials and gave us glimpses into their intimate wedding ceremonies.
Mehendi:
The couple kickstarted their wedding with a cozy mehendi event. For the function, Mouni donned a yellow lehenga set without the dupatta. Instead, she wore an embellished blouse adorned with seashells on the neckline. Instead of going the floral jewelry way, she wore a kundan maangtikka and earrings and kept her makeup minimal and fresh.
Haldi
Next up was the Haldi ceremony for which both the bride and groom wore ivory attires. While Mouni wore a white sharara set, Suraj was seen in a white kurta-pajama. The outfits were just minimally embroidered and embellished to keep in line with the couple’s seemingly straightforward taste. Wedding
For their Malyali wedding, the couple changed into traditional South Indian ensembles for the wedding – silk saree and kurta-pajama. The now-Mrs.Nambiar also wore traditional temple jewelry to go with her ensembles. The ceremony was whimsical, but what we absolutely loved is Mouni Roy’s bridal entry with her bridesmaids all coordinated in an ivory saree holding diyas.
Just a few hours after the ceremony, Mouni Roy took to Instagram to announce she’s married with the sweetest caption, “found him at last ..♥️ Hand in hand, blessed by family & friends, We’re married!!!!!!!!!!! Need your love and blessings… 27.01.22 Love, Suraj & Mouni”. Her friends Mandira Bedi, Manmeet Singh, Arjun Bijlani, Karishma Modi – all congratulated the couple with sweetest posts, but Smriti Irani was the one who put the nicest of the wordy, hearty caption, here it is – “This girl came into my life 17 years ago .. they claimed she was a novice then but such was her wisdom that she brought warmth & much joy along with the life lessons she infused amongst those who are lucky to have her as a friend, as family. Today she begins a new journey. May all the Gods be kind and bless her with happiness, prosperity, and good health.. for the boy.. well you are one hell of a lucky man .. Who is Suraj Nambiar?
Suraj Nambiar is a Dubai-based businessman who is currently the Directorial Head of the Capital Markets in the United Arab Emirates and is a member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association. He also owns an event management company alongside his brother Neeraj.
Born and brought up in a Jain family in Bengaluru, Suraj Nambiar is well-educated and has several degrees up to his sleeves. He studied at Jain International Residential School, Bengaluru, and then, studied Civil Engineering from RV College, also in Bengaluru. Later on, he went to the London School of Economics and Political Science to study Financial and Managerial Accounting, and further, took a degree from Stanford University in International Management.
Suraj Nambiar’s parents are quite well-known and affluent as well. While his father, Raja Nambiar, is a businessman, his mother, Renuka Nambiar, is a singer. Suraj is quite close with both his mother and father and his brother and often posts about them on his Instagram account – @nambiar13.

Mouni Roy has remained tight-lipped about her personal life especially after her much-talked-about breakup with Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev co-star Mohit Raina, who, by the way, also recently got married in a low-key affair to Aditi Sharma, who doesn’t belong to show business but rather hails from a tech background. Mouni & Mohit began their relationship on the sets of Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev where Mouni played the lead role of Sati. The two developed a liking for each other and were seen hanging out multiple times. None of them ever confirmed the relationship and instead, have said conflicting statements ranging from “never in a relationship” to “things don’t go in your favor always” when asked about the break-up. In 2018, Mouni stated in an interview that she has severed all ties with actor Mohit Raina.
Before Mohit Raina, Mouni Roy was dating her Pati Patni Aur Woh co-star Gaurav Chopra for just a brief amount of time. Since both of them were at the breakthrough of their careers and receiving ample love from the audience, their relationship was highly reported in tabloids and so was the breakup. The two didn’t remain in contact after the breakup and still remain on no-talking terms.
After her relationship with people from show businesses, Mouni Roy met Dubai-based businessman Suraj Nambiar in 2019. It isn’t clear how the two met, but there was certainly no common friend to introduce them to. The couple felt butterflies in their first meeting itself and it was just a fairytale come true from that point onwards. They started dating soon enough, although never made their relationship official, even when Mouni was directly asked, she straight up denied it. A trend I’ve to say becoming quite common in TV stars and B’wood actors alike. No relationship announcement until marriage pictures are released. Mouni and Suraj were often spotted together at parties, vacations, and get away with friends. Some of the moments were their vacation from Thailand when a friend shared their picture together on a getaway, then in August 2020, a video of Mouni Roy trying her hands at shooting hoops went viral – it had a background voice of a man cheering, which the fans were quick to guess was Suraj Nambiar. In 2021, the couple was spotted together with each other’s parents and apparently, the wedding planning began around the same time when the families met at Mandira Bedi’s home. Mouni also welcomed New Year with Nambiar’s family in Dubai and referred to his parents as ‘mum’ and ‘dad’ further cementing the rumors of their wedding in January.
