10 Details We Know Of Ranbir-Alia’s Impending Nuptials

That Ranbir & Alia are getting married soon is no big news. What started as an April fool’s joke on our blog is now a reality! Manifesting really works, doesn’t it? Below, find 10 key details from their impending nuptials.

1. The Ceremony Is Supposedly At Ranbir’s Vastu Home

The pre-wedding celebrations have already begun at Ranbir’s home – Vastu and guests including the groom’s family – Neetu Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor, her daughter Samaira, and husband Bharat, and the bride’s family – Mahesh Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt have also arrived. Other family members like Reema Jain, Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, and Aadar Jain have also arrived. It’s also reported that it was earlier planned to host the couple’s nuptials at Ranbir’s home, but given the number of guests and 200 bouncers and police personnel, it doesn’t seem feasible to host the ceremony at Ranbir’s home. The pheras will now take place at RK studio, where Ranbir’s parents, Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor also took their vows.

2. The Wedding Date Is 17th April

The wedding date has changed over the days. Earlier it was reported to be April 15, but now some strong rumors suggest the wedding will take place on 17th April. The latter date makes more sense because 8 is also Kapoor’s lucky number and 1+7 = 8, so things work out numerically as well. According to some reports, Ranbir’s customized wedding band for Alia also has a number 8 connection and has 8 diamonds encrusted on it. The band is designed by luxury international brands Van Cleef and Arpels. Last week, Alia’s half-brother Rahul Bhatt also confirmed their wedding in an interview. “Yes, the wedding is happening and I’ve been invited. I will be there for the ceremonies,” he revealed.

Just a few days back, Alia Bhatt also commented on a video that was based on her & Ranbir’s wedding on the 17th of April. The video was made by Youtuber Nick, also known by her Instagram username @beyounick. He can be seen running behind a car with the banner “Ranbir Weds Alia” in a white kurta-pajama set with Kabir Singh’s song playing at the back – basically taking inspiration from the movie’s pivotal scene. The video was captioned “Me on April 17th” and further showed a picture of Nick & Alia, where Nick’s face is replaced by Ranbir’s. Alia Bhatt commented on the video “Ded”, indirectly giving credence to her wedding rumors.

3. Reception Will Be At Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai

The reports are rife of a wedding reception for the duo at the grand Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. It’s also reported that the couple will have not one, but two wedding receptions. One will be at Taj and the other one might take place at the wedding venue – Ranbir’s house – right after the ceremony. Although, that hasn’t been confirmed yet. However, it’s not unusual for B’wood couples to host more than one reception event. Virushka, Deepveer, and Nickyanka all had around 3 wedding receptions each. The one at Taj will mostly be attended by all the major Bollywood stars. Taj Colaba was also the reception location for Saif-Kareena’s wedding

It’s also reported that Alia & Ranbir will offer a Langar at a Gurudwara after the wedding. Their presence at the langar isn’t yet confirmed, but the food and sweets will be provided on their behalf to the visitors.

4. An Intimate Guest List For The Wedding Day

The wedding guest list will consist of around 100 to 200 people and will include the couple’s close friends and family members. Directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Karan Johar, and Ayan Mukherjee are all on this guest list. The two have respectively worked with them and given some of their best career hits with these directors. There will also be Ranbir’s cousins and actors Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Aadar Jain, and Armaan Jain. The entire Kapoor clan including Randhir Kapoor and Rima Jain will be present at the event. Other guests might include Varun Dhawan, his brother Rohit Dhawan, Anushka Ranjan, Akanksha Ranjan, Arjun Kapoor, and designer Manish Malhotra. The reception guest list will however extend far more than that and will include many popular Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, and many more.

5. The Couple Will Honeymoon In South Africa Or Switzerland

Ranbir & Alia love the outdoors. They spent their New Year’s in a luxury Ranthambore safari resort (Amanbagh) and are all set to welcome another adventurous yet private vacation in South Africa – this time as their honeymoon. Although, it will be a delayed honeymoon for the couple as both have work commitments at the time. Alia will be leaving to complete the shoot of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, and Ranbir will be preparing for his releases. The latter has 5 releases this year – all in the second half of 2022, one of them, Brahmastra, is with his bride-to-be.

Besides South Africa, a Switzerland honeymoon has also been rumored for the couple. Switzerland’s Gstaad is a hub for the rich and Bollywood stars are often found vacationing in the spectacular location. In summers, Switzerland’s weather is quite comfortable and its natural beauty is unparalleled. No wonder, it’s also a popular honeymoon destination among Indians.

Besides Switzerland though, we won’t be surprised if the couple chooses the Maldives as their honeymoon spot. The picturesque archipelago is close to the country and has some luxurious, private resort chains to woo anyone looking for a secluded and lavish honeymoon experience.

6. Groom’s Bachelor Party Has Already Happened

Just last week, when the rumors of their wedding started doing rounds, the rumors of Ranbir’s bachelor party and the guest list were also widely reported. The groom-to-be is extremely close to Arjun Kapoor, Ayan Mukherjee, and Aditya Roy Kapoor, and they would definitely come to his bachelor’s celebration. However, where it’s happening or how the Brahmastra actor is planning to celebrate the bachelor wasn’t clear. It also isn’t sure if the bachelor party already happened before the strong wedding rumors started doing rounds.

7. Duo Will Wear Sabyasachi On The Wedding

No surprises here! Any Bollywood wedding comes up and our mind straight goes to envisioning the bride & groom in Sabyasachi clothing. After dressing up some of the most popular Bollywood couples, the couturier is all set to custom-design wedding attires for Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt. On April 11, several bags including a carry-bag with Sabyasachi written on it were seen arriving at the 39-year-old’s apartment building – Vastu, which will also mostly be the couple’s wedding venue. Last month, Neetu Kapoor also met with designer Manish Malhotra – supposedly planning her outfits as the mother of the groom. While Alia’s sartorial choices have drifted from Sabyasachi to Manish Malhotra, it will be exciting to see who she opts for on her D-Day!

8. Krishna Raj Bungalow Will Be Their Abode After Marriage

The Krishna Raj bungalow is a newly-built property at Pali Hill in Mumbai. The couple will reportedly live here after their marriage. Last month, Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt were often seen visiting the bungalow to see the construction (the building is still under construction though!) – sometimes together, sometimes on their own. The house is named after Ranbir’s grandmother Krishna Raj Kapoor.

Krishna Raj bungalow is actually Ranbir’s family home where Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor lived with their children. However, after both their children moved out, the two also moved out in a sky-rise apartment building. A few years ago it was reported that they will sell out the bungalow to be rebuilt into apartments, but that didn’t happen. Since then, the house has been left under construction, until recently, it was reported that the bungalow will be the newly-weds new abode after marriage.

9. Pre-Wedding Festivities Will Start From April 14th

With the venues all decked up and homes all twinkling with fairy lights, it’s reported that Ranbir & Alia’s wedding celebrations will begin on April 14th. It will start with a Ganesh Puja at 11 PM and then, other events like mehendi, sangeet, and haldi will continue till the wedding date. Ahead of the pre-wedding celebrations, Ranbir’s sister Riddhima Kapoor arrived in Mumbai from Delhi along with her daughter and husband. When asked about the stars’ wedding, she said, “Haan milenge jaldi” and confirmed the wedding indirectly. The close-family affair will be held at Ranbir’s Vastu apartment.

Alia hasn’t been seen in the city for a while since she was shooting for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani in another place. Sources say she arrived at Ranbir’s Vastu building early morning – she also owns a separate flat there, but the bride-to-be is yet to be papped.

10. The Wedding Can Be Postponed Due To Excessive Media Attention

Although, we don’t see a point in postponing the marriage due to the media frenzy. It’s a given that whenever the couple gets married, it will receive high media coverage and attention. The same happened with all the prior Bollywood weddings where successful actors tied the knot. Be it Deepika & Ranveer’s when media reached Italy to capture some exclusive pictures or Priyanka & Nick Jonas/ Vicky & Katrina where the paparazzi were seen outside the venue the whole time.

Alia’s half-brother Rahul Bhatt said in an interview on Tuesday that the wedding was earlier scheduled on April 13 or 14 but has been postponed after the dates were leaked. He further added that the wedding will happen before the 20th of April and there might be an official announcement of the same. Earlier it was reported that their mehendi and other pre-wedding festivities will start on April 14th. There has been no update yet on the same.

Ranbir & Alia met on the sets of Brahmastra in 2018 and started dating soon after. The couple made their first official appearance at Sonam Kapoor’s wedding reception and have been vocal about their relationship since then. In 2021, Ranbir also revealed that the duo would have been married till now if it hadn’t been for the pandemic. They had planned a 2020 wedding, just like Kapoor’s late father Rishi Kapoor wanted. He lost his battle to cancer in April 2020 though and the sad demise, alongside the peak pandemic, led to their wedding delay. However, both Ranbir and Alia have always spoken about their eagerness to get married to each other and we think the time has come.
